Another question about prayer?

Before every salah, the imam tells us to please pray foot to foot and shoulder to shoulder. Yet, there will be several people who are standing a foot away, and sometimes even by themselves. Why is this? It can be very confusing to new Muslims to see this.

  6. simply out of ignorance.  you imam is correct, but for women especially there is a problem because they (some of them) are not used to praying in the mosque so they are unfamiliar with the etiquette of congregational prayer.
