I know it seems a little silly, but do you get bothered when you here the song "Dixieland" or see a Confederate flag?

  1. no, i try not to let dumb S**t like that get to me

  2. Nope, doesn't bother me one bit. Why should I be bothered by something so simplistic as a song and a flag. If everyone were so touchy feely about subjects like that, imagine how many people would be upset about everything. You can't please everyone so you might as well please yourself. If the flag and the song make you happy that's good there is so much stuff going on in this world for me to stop and think about getting bothered by petty stuff.

  3. oh my stars - Yes!  Although the person may be posting it out of ignorance I do get bothered.  They may not know the history of the flag and what it stands for and that's out of ignorance.  However the ones to do post it for what it stands for.   oooooh ooooooooh.

I live near the Baton Rouge, La area and LSU has the flag pattern in their purple & gold colors.  Yet, the majority of their team are African -Americans yet want to promote a symbol like that.

  4. Absolutely. The confederate flag is a symbol of racism in my opinion, when Black olympic athletes put their fist in the air (a symbol of black power) their medals were taken away(in the 60s), but this flag is proudly displayed with no such consequences.

  5. For a fleeting second. /

  6. not really---i never heard the song dixie land.

  7. Yes.

Although I understand there is southern pride, I also know that these images were used to intimidate and were a sign of slavery. I also feel kinda miffed when I see the flags in California or Omaha, Nebraska.. That is not the south...

(and ever notice the people who have them??)
