  1. what quasar said

  2. But we do believe that matter can come from energy and vice versa.

  3. you've obviously never heard of special relativity.

belief is irrelevant. the big bang is supported by facts, and by experimentally testable predictions.

one of the best predictions was teh comic microwave background radiation. scintists listen to it with special radios and play it at parties. it's really cool.

  4. E = M * C² and M = E ÷ C². These are two valid, proven equations and clearly show that matter *can* "come" from energy. Sorry, but you can't shoot down the Big Bang theory that way.

  5. In my mind, the ultimate question is why do atheists and theists use science as the rope in their tug of war game in trying to denounce the opposing faction? Science is merely the study of how things work.

The (non-)existence of God is totally unrelated to the mechanics of how the universe ticks. Whether it was made by God, alien hyper-diminsional beings, or a lucky roll of the cosmic dice, the universe ticks as it does.

The fact that planets orbit stars does not either confirm or deny creation or a god, so stop using cosmology / science as the battle ground.

  6. start by reading a bit on the subject, THEN ask a question of this nature.

unless you really need an answer...

the Big Bang theory is precisely that... a theory.  There is nothing that comes as close to explaining the origins of the Uninverse.

If you come up with something, I will be happy to listen.

  7. Matter and energy are interchangeable, you moron!

That means that matter can be converted into energy and energy can be converted into matter.

  8. I don't I just have to study it because it's a topic in my science class...

  9. Where did God come from? Having a hard time answering this question aren't you. Well fortunately I won't have a hard time answering yours.

Matter *can* come from energy. Matter and energy are interchangeable. The universe was so active and there was so much energy that matter started to appear milliseconds after the Big Bang. After only 3 seconds, the first atomic nuclei started forming.

Have you answered my initial question? See, you have to rationalize... I don't.

  10. You need to bone up on your physics, matter and energy are two forms of the same thing.

  11. It's not my fault that u don't believe in thee Big Bang theory......

U should know that mass & energy are inter-convertible......

  12. Matter and energy are just different forms of the same thing, that's what Einstein was getting at with EMC2.

The fact that you refer to "belief" in the Big Bang Theory implies you don't really understand science. It's the best theory we have, and it fits the evidence at hand. Plus no one has come up with a better theory. If you want to disprove the Big Bang Theory you need to come up with and do a scientific experiment that makes your case, by achieving results not compatible with the Big Bang Theory.

My question is why are people of Faith so threatened by Science? Science does not and cannot prove or disprove the existence of an all powerful invisible supernatural being, so science is no threat to Religious belief. Heck, I think things like the Big Bang and Evolution show us that the Universe God created is vastly more wonderful and amazing than the comic book version in the Bible, so if anything modern science glorifies God.

  13. because we have a basic understanding of how the big bang theory works

I'm guessing you haven't even tried to understand.

  14. I think I was in the 7th grade when I first heard of the Big Bang theory. I listened to the description then and had the same question I have today. Why must the two things be mutually exclusive? It seems to me that the description of God's creation of the universe and the description of the Big Bang are describing the exact same thing. "And God said, Let there be light..." where is the dicotomy? Likewise, the Genisis description of God creating man. It says he shaped him out of the clay. Prevelant scientific belife is that man "Evolved" from the clay of the earth. Was there something I missed that said God didn't create man via evolution? Give me a break. What kind of God do you worship? I turly mean this. Any God that is so simple that I can understand him is a pretty simplistic being. I can't concive of God being simple.

  15. You have the whole thing backwards, and you seem to imply that everything - I mean "everything" came from the one particular big

bang that happened to create most of the stuff around us. I prefer to think that most of the stuff around us came from the big bang and that

at that time there was also many other objects in space which have since moved farther away from us.

There is a huge difference between the distances of objects we can see with our best optical equipment and objects we can detect with our best radio telescopes...

Optical Telescopes limits are at about 13 Billion Light Years.

Radio Telescopes limits are at about 40 Billion Light Years.

There is lots of room in between those two numbers. Think about that for a while.
