  1. Section 12.08.100 Taxi speed.

No person shall taxi any aircraft on the airport unless there will be no danger of collision with any person or object. All aircraft shall be taxied at a safe and reasonable speed commensurate with safe operation in relation to existing conditions and with due regard for other aircraft, persons and property. (Ord. 5661 § 1, 1988; prior code § 5.11 (part))

    Or...high speed taxiway...up to 60kts

  2. 250 kts below 10,000 ft.

  3. Never heard of one, but if your taxi procedure (not always speed alone) causes an accident you will be "careless and reckless" under the FARs.

    It's a nice catch-all.

  4. I highly doubt there is a rigid standard for taxi speed limits.

First, there is no way of reading your ground speed with the equipment required by the regulations (GPS isn't required equipment), so you wouldn't know if you were taxiing above a prescribed limit.

Second, I've never seen someone with a radar gun clocking taxiing aircraft.  The only limit I heard during my training was 'don't taxi faster than a brisk walk'.  I tried it one day going on a taxiway from one end of a 7300 foot runway to the other; my instructor was going insane by the time we reached the halfway point.

Third, a safe taxi speed is dependent on the conditions.  Are you taxiing on dry asphalt or wet concrete?  Are you taxiing on loose gravel or ice?  What are the wind conditions?  What is the visibility like?

Like previous answerers said it would fall under the catch-all of reckless operation of an aircraft if a plane was damaged or caused risk of damage to persons or property.

What I use personally is the airspeed indicator.  If it is coming off the bottom peg, you are taxiing too fast.  If it is coming off the peg when you are still tied down, maybe fly another day.

Edit:  Vr?  Do you mean the normal rotation speed of the plane or simply the minimum speed you can lift the nose wheel off the ground?  If I am flying a Beech Duke I guess I could taxi it at 93KIAS since it rotates at 94.

  5. this is so simple on safety...do not have the airspeed indicator reading any movement..."BRISK WALK" - 10 -15

the windier the slower you should go
