ok..sorry that this is similar to my last one. but again, i thought i knew this stuff and the stupid questions all are confusing me now. can someone help?

In a transformer, two coils are wound around a toroidal iron core. Answer True or False.

True False The transformer can use direct current, but the performance is better with alternating current.

True False If the primary voltage is alternating, the secondary voltage is constant.

True False The purpose of any transformer is to produce a lower voltage.

True False If the primary voltage is constant, the secondary voltage is alternating.

True False If the primary voltage is constant, the transformer will not function.

True False If the primary voltage is constant, the secondary voltage is constant and nonzero.

True False The iron core is built up of thin slices of iron.

  1. In a transformer, two coils are wound around a toroidal iron core. Answer True or False. USUALLY TRUE

True False The transformer can use direct current, but the performance is better with alternating current. FALSE

True False If the primary voltage is alternating, the secondary voltage is constant. FALSE

True False The purpose of any transformer is to produce a lower voltage.   FALSE EITHER WAY

True False If the primary voltage is constant, the secondary voltage is alternating.   FALSE

True False If the primary voltage is constant, the transformer will not function.  IF CONSTANT MEANS DC, THEN TRUE, IF IT JUST MEANS UNVARYING AC, THEN FALSE

True False If the primary voltage is constant, the secondary voltage is constant and nonzero.  SEE ABOVE

True False The iron core is built up of thin slices of iron. TRUE TO REDUCE MAGNETIC LOSSES

  2. False

    False

    True

    False

    False

    True

    True

    True

  3. In a transformer, two coils are wound around a toroidal iron core. Answer True or False. (Transformers can be done this way or other ways. As long as 2 coils share a core, it should work.)

True False The transformer can use direct current, but the performance is better with alternating current. (False, they only work on AC)

True False If the primary voltage is alternating, the secondary voltage is constant. (False, both are always AC)

True False The purpose of any transformer is to produce a lower voltage. (False, they can be step up or step down.)

True False If the primary voltage is constant, the secondary voltage is alternating. (False, if the primary is constant, there is no secondary.)

True False If the primary voltage is constant, the transformer will not function. (True)

True False If the primary voltage is constant, the secondary voltage is constant and nonzero. (False, it is constant and zero.)

True False The iron core is built up of thin slices of iron. (It can be, but does not have to be.)

  4. 1st, by 'Constant', do you mean DC current ?.

    1..False.

    2..False.

    3..False.

    4..False.

    5..False.

    6..False.

    7..True.

    8..True.
