Another victory for the Bryans at the 2011 Monte Carlo Masters
Bob and Mike Bryan scored yet another win for themselves at the 2011 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Monte Carlo just minutes ago, defeating doubles team Marcin Matkowski and Mariusz Fyrstenberg 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-final of the prestigious
Masters event. The match lasted just a little over an hour and one minute, as the two brothers raced forward to take a spot in the title match on clay.
The Bryan brothers scored a total of five aces during the match, and only committed one double fault. In addition to this, they won 78 per cent of their first serve points and broke their opponents three times out of seven opportunities.
Fyrstenberg and Matkowski, on the other hand, fired off four aces but negated this by committing six double faults. They also won 73 per cent of their total first serve points, but were only able to break the Bryan brothers once. Bob and Mike Bryan managed
to win an impressive 58 per cent of the total points in the match, to score 61 out of 105. It was all over in straight sets as the American doubles team undid their opponents 6-3, 6-4 to reach the title match of the tournament.
Bob and Mike Bryan are one of the strongest doubles teams currently on tour. The two players hail from America, and are ranked World Number 2 on the ATP Doubles rankings. They have won a massive total of seventy titles together
over the course of their career, and flit in and out of the World Number position. The two pros have also won several Grand Slam doubles titles. So far in 2011, Bob and Mike Bryan have already managed to take two titles. This may become their third. They have
played against Fyrstenberg and Matkowski sixteen times prior to this, and this is their eleventh victory over the opposing team. Their last meeting was last year at the 2010 Beijing event
The Bryan brothers will now proceed to the title match at Monte Carlo, possibly setting up a final against Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Rohan Bopanna. The latter will play the tandem of Juan Ignacio Chela and Bruno Soares later in
the day.
