  1. If you are a UK citizen you don't need it as the others has explained but if not then that is the way to solve it:

Portugal is one of the EU members that provide and accept Schengen Visa.....

So contact one of the following embassies:

Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Spain, including ofcourse Portugal

    Good Luck....

  2. It is a schengen country, try applying for a visa from another shengen country eg france. spain,  germany etc. One of those embassies might be able to do it sooner. When I taught foreign students in London they used to just turn up at the French Embassy and queue, although, to have a chance at getting in they would start queueing from about 4 am.

    List of schengen countries

  3. British:

British nationals with passports endorsed "British Citizen" or "British Dependent Territories Citizen" can stay up to 90 days visa free.

are you not a UK citizen ?

if not ? you will have to wait for your appointment ,unless you find an agency (travel ) to help you out ..........

  4. check on www.gumtree.com and go to visa pop-up. you will find many agencies there. portuguesse embassy is just trying to avoid people coming streight to them. so they are using agents. thsese agent also do charge some fee and i belive some share goes to portuguesse embassy as well. these agents will be able to get your visa done in couple of days. so good luck. n keep us inform.

  5. You don't need a visa to go to Portugal if you have a British passport.

If not some travel agents will do visa service and organise it for you, but they usually charge quite a bit for it.
