  1. If the rabbit has short velvet type fur, it is what the rabbit world would call a "tri-color Rex".  If the fur is longer and has a satin-like sheen, it would be a tri Satin.  I am betting it is the Rex.

  2. The closest breed accepted by ARBA i can think of to that is a Polish, which, i am still sure is not it. i am pretty sure this is a mixed breed rabbit. mixed breeds usually come from shelters/pet stores/or a small town person who is breeding for fun..or something..

if you want to get a rabbit you can show in 4-H, find a good breeder who focuses on raising a purebred rabbit for the standard of the breed. here is the ARBA list of official accepted rabbit breeds:

  3. Wow I thought that was a picture of MY rabbit.  He looks EXACTLY like that.  The pet store just said he was a dwarf rabbit.  I call him a calico rabbit.  He is so cool!  He is about 3 years old now.  Aren't they cute!

  4. PEOPLE...why do you answer these questions when you do NOT TRUELY know the answer!!

The American Rabbit Breeders Association recognizes 47 breeds of PUREBRED rabbits.  Each with a STANDARD that is followed by breeders to breed toward a similar quality for that breed, as set by that breed's specialty club.

Unless you are buying from a reputable breeder of PUREBRED PEDIGREE'd rabbits, you are more than likely getting a MIXED BREED.

This picture is not a Rex, or a Mini Rex, or mixed Lop or a Rhinelander or whatever else.  It more than likely is just your regular run of the mill MIXED BREED rabbit.  A Heinz 57.  A mutt.  It may "look" like a breed, or resemble something because it has spots, or this size, or this ear control, etc.  But it comes down to it more than likely a MIXED BREED rabbit.

If you want a specific type of breed, purebred, you must find a BREEDER of that breed and purchase direct from them, who can show you proof of pureness through generations of breedings, parents within their barn and pedigree paperwork.

This picture is like EVERY other picture that is constantly listed here asking what breed this is....

It's not a Dutch, it's not a Mini Lop, it's a MIXED BREED PET BUNNY!!

View ARBA's website for a complete listing and pictures of ALL 47 recognized breeds of purebred rabbits in the USA.

  5. it kind of looks like a Rhinelander but it is hard to tell. here is a link to a site with pics and info on  Rhinelanders. hope this helps.
