  1. Finally, someone else with a whippet.

She won't be any happier with another dog - she won't get as much attention, and there will probably be some jealousy issues. You are her pack - she doesn't need another member. Besides, she won't care if you get another whippet. Dogs don't discriminate based on breed.

The only reason to get another dog is if you want one, not if you think she "wants" one.

  2. I wish I had a a whippet.

  3. I have 2 whippets and they are both extremely young. If you have a 'problem' whippet now, I wouldn't suggest getting another one. Thankfully my girls are both litter mates but they still have times where they fight with each other. Getting another one will give her a companion at times but she will also lose out on the love you have to give her as now she has to share. My fiance and I have rotating schedules, I work days, he works nights so the girls always have someone for attention but Cloie is extremely jealous and will actually start whining if Luka is getting more attention than her. I would suggest waiting until she is older than a year before you consider getting another.

  4. Although having 2 dogs does give the dogs more stimulation and company, it also keep them awake and can encourage more mischief, as when not having a afternoon sleep, they are awake and may not be playing nicely together, may be doing something destructive.  It is always a gamble as you don't know how they will react until they mature.

If you dog is happy and content, not pining and lonely then he does not really need a companion.  Also, if you are having any problems with this dog, then she will teach the young pup the same bad habits, and you may end up with double trouble.   Weigh all the points before making a decision.

  5. I don't own a whippet, I have an IG but they are very similar with activity level. My 8 month old is bounce off the walls crazy but he is starting to settle down a tiny bit. Right now, I wouldn't be able to handle another puppy, especially since mine has health problems but getting another one won't really calm her down if that's what you're asking. It gives her another dog to be crazy with. She's still a young puppy and is craving your attention right now. Now is the greatest time to do training (if you haven't already) and socialize her. When she gets older, around a year or so and you feel the same way, then go for it. But at this time, she really needs all the attention she can get from you.

I'm not sure where you got you girl from now but for the next, I would highly recommend rescue.
