Granada coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Juan-Antonio-c19650 Anquela, has admitted that his side was overwhelmed by Malaga after their 4-0 loss at the Rosaleda stadium on Saturday.
Strikes from Joaquin Sánchez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Saviola-c18090 before the end of the first-half enabled the hosts to take control of the game.
The second-half was also played out in the same manner as another two goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roque-Santa-Cruz-c31778 sealed the fate of Juan Anquela’s men.
Reflecting back on the encounter, Anquela thought his team played well in the first period but was unfortunately punished by their opponents in the second-half when they tried to come back into the game.
“In the first half we played well,” he told a Press conference. “But during the second half we tried to push the opponents and they punished us.”
Moreover, the Spanish tactician has hailed the strength of his opponents and described their performance at the Rosaleda as a quality one.
“They have a lot of quality – and there's no getting around that.”
When asked about if his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at the club is in danger and whether he is afraid for his position, Anquela gave a resounding yes. He added that he and his players will just keep working hard.
“Of course I fear for my position,” he said. “All I can say is that the team will go out and work until the last second.”
The 55-year-old understands the pressure football coaches are facing these days. He stated that whenever things go wrong, it is always the manager who takes the blame and becomes the victim.
Regardless, he is not shying away from his responsibilities and said that he is ready to accept any shortcomings that pertain to him.
“The blame is always with the Coach and I have no problem with taking that responsibility.”
Anquela is surely under a lot of pressure as his team has managed to collect only four points from their last five matches in all competitions.
The defeat at the Rosaleda means Granada have now slipped to the relegation zone. They are currently occupying the 18th position with just 12 points.
