Anselmo Moreno to defend his WBA super world bantamweight title against David De La Mora
Anselmo Moreno, the current WBA Super World bantamweight champion, will defend his title for the third time against David De La Mora, the former WBC FECARBOX bantamweight champion, in a 12-round bout on April 21, 2012.
The above bout will co-headline the boxing show brought together by Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions and will be televised live on Showtime. The ring for the bout will be stretched at Don Haskins Convention Center situated in El Paso, Texas, United
States.
The event will be headlined by the championship bout between Abner Mares and Erik Morel. Moreno and David recently met at the pre-bout media interaction and put forth their thoughts about each other and the Saturday night showdown.
Moreno, 26, has been in a total 34 bouts and emerged victorious in 32. He has nailed 11 of his opponents by knockout and has lost just one bout to Ricardo Molina. The champion Moreno has a substantive upper hand over his challenger David.
Le Mora, 23, is a Mexican surging lad who has been in a total 25 bouts and emerged victorious in 24. He has collected 17 of his opponents by knockout and recently collected his career’s only defeat from the fists of Koki Kameda.
During the press conference, Moreno shared his resolve that he wants to take on every man available in the 118 and 122-pound division adding that he is 100 percent and well prepared to take on anyone.
Moreno remarked, “I am ready to fight, I have the will to fight and have come 100 percent prepared. I plan to do good work and hopefully everything comes out fine because I came prepared to win. I want to fight everyone in the 118-pound division and 122-pound
division.”
At the same time, David while sharing his thoughts commented that he is entering the bout after undergoing a strenuous training camp adding that if he loses the bout he will not make any excuses or complaint since Moreno will win the bout only if he is the
better man.
David remarked, “I spent five weeks in Mexico preparing for this fight, so I am very prepared. If Moreno beats me, there will be no excuses like a lot of fighters make. If Moreno wins, he was better than me. It was a mistake for Moreno to take this fight
because I am going to take that title away.”
At the moment, the odds are clearly in favour of Anselmo who has been wearing different titles round his waist almost continuously for the last 11 bouts.
