What effect does the angle in the following photograph have on the way you view the image?

  1. It is what makes it intriguing and a "grabber". The first thing I think of is "man against the elements". Then I see the photographer as looking down on a landscape or silhouetted against the sky--completely opposite perspectives. Great photograph!!

    Crappy  pic. I'd expect better from him.  Especially shooting sheet film. Musta had an extra to toss. But, like he said, if he got 12 good prints a year, he was doing good. I don't care for "shadow" shots. They look stupid, no matter who took it. I just wonder who he's waving at?

  3. Ugh, I hate questions like this. You shouldn't have to justify the way you view art.

  4. The picture was not really even a serious one so the fact that it's hardly one of his best should not be a big issue and I doubt the angle was something he gave a lot of thought to on this particular one.

    This is the picture that Adams jokingly called his self portrait and it's his sense of humor showing through in this picture that makes it memorable.
