Answer Me answers the call to victory in A3 race at Sheffield
In greyhound racing, each dog does their best to answer the call to win. While only one of the six racers can claim the number one spot, they engage in a hard-fought battle to see who
will earn it.
During an exciting day of 500m races at the Sheffield Greyhound Stadium in Sheffield, Answer Me raced to a first place finish during the first of three A3 races. The 11-4 long shot moved
quickly away from the pack and always led, surprising the crowd with his 29.96 finish. Behind him, by a neck’s length, was Cahara Classic (5-1), who was always handy, and finished in 29.98.
Third place went to Coolavanny Fling, the 5-2 favourite. She moved slowly away and crowded first, losing 1½ lengths in the process. She rebounded quickly to finish in 30.10. Stormy Gino
(4-1) was the fourth-place finisher, moving slowly away to finish the race in 30.12. He missed out on a top-three finish by only a head’s length.
Swift Lulu (7-2) lay claim on fifth place after being forced to check first. She went on to finish in 30.28, 2 lengths behind Stormy Gino. A clear run was not enough for Droopys Stefan
(8-1), who finished last in 30.29, a head out of fifth place.
The next A3 race featured a trio of 3-1 co-favourites. Awesome Dude was one of them, and he claimed the top spot with a finishing time of 29.79. After a strong start from trap two, he
soon led to make the victory an easy one. Lilchiefdingdong (7-2) had a clear run, and went on to finish 2½ lengths behind the winner in 29.99.
Harlequin Ottawa, the second co-favourite, finished third despite having every chance to win the race. Her time of 30.11 placed her 1½ lengths behind the second-place finisher. Fourth
place was claimed by Rich And Rare, the 11-2 long shot. She badly bumped first, resulting in a loss of 3¼ lengths and a 30.37 finish.
Deanridge Flash (4-1) raced to a fifth-place finish after being forced to check wide. He also bumped first en route to a 30.43 finish that was ¾ lengths behind Rich And Rare. Sixth place
went to Havana Hero, the last of the co-favourites. He bumped first and quarter, and completed the race in 30.51, missing fifth place by 1 length.
Sheffield Greyhound Stadium will feature another exciting race meeting on Tuesday, 26 October. The 16-race card gets under way with an A6 race at 18:39.
