Answer Me calls in a win in A3 race at Sheffield
When the dogs at Sheffield Greyhound Stadium bound out of their traps, you never know just what will happen. The odds makers can make all kinds of calls and predictions on every 500m race,
but in the end, the results may vary greatly.
Many racing fans were surprised to see Answer Me (7-2) answer the call to victory in the first of three A3 races during an exciting race meeting. An early pace from trap three allowed
him to take the lead, which he never let go of. His finishing time of 30.91 placed him in the top spot. Waycross Czarina (5-1) finished in second place after a good run. She was only a single length behind the winner in 30.99.
Finishing third was Donnas Michael (7-2), who had every chance to win this race. He went on to post a time of 31.09, which placed him 1¼ lengths out of second place. Coolavanny Mint, the
favourite on 11-4 odds, held an early pace when the race began, but lost 2 lengths after bumping and stumbling at second. She went on to finish in 31.25.
Rich And Rare (3-1) took fifth place after moving slowly away. She was also forced to check second and the halfway mark, resulting in a 31.27 finish that was a neck’s length behind Coolavanny
Mint. Rounding out the pack was Graigues Flash (7-2). He began by moving very slowly away, but badly checked first later on. He did not finish the race as a result.
The second A3 race saw Dunelm Duke (4-1) sprint to a close victory after a strong start from trap three. He would go on to lead fourth and finish first with a time of 30.62. Only a neck’s
length separated first place from second, with Runaround Jimmy (7-2) claiming his position after holding an early pace. He soon led to fourth, and completed the race in 30.64.
