I'm a music major and am going to college in the fall. I'm really worried because I'm in all of these ensembles, orchastras and marching band. The music isn't the issue. I have a major phobia of flying. How often did you have to FLY to get to music performances?

What were you in?

Any experience would help.

I always chose best answer.

NO GRADE SCHOOLERS K-12!!!! I'm OUT of HS.

  1. college bands do not always go to away games, it really depends on whether your football team is major like big 10 or pac 10 etc.

    my college band sent pep band to some away games (crosstown rivals) but never flew at all. we performed at all home games of course,...

    i guess thats the advantage of attending a school with a suckass football team.

    ensembles i played in;

    symphonic band, wind ensemble, jazz  2, jazz 1, jazz combo, brass ensembles, trombone choir, mens chorus, pep band

    most performances were on campus & the rest we drove (carpooled) to,...

    never less than 5 performing ensembles per semester, plus private lessons, 30 hour workweek in a local music store & 18 +-private students of my own at that time made for a hectic schedule----still it was the finest time of life!

  2. I've never had to fly to get to any performances.  I guess it depends upon where you live or where you attend school.  All of my performances have been located within 100 miles of the university.
