In Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut the writer wants written on his tombstone one number, the number of women hes slept with, and the number of people he has killed (which happen to be the same number). He happens to give the answer in a convoluted way. Does anyone know the answer?

  1. Hi there.

    I did the math.

    Eugene Debs died on - 1926

    Arthur C. Clarke movie - 2001

    Hitler's birth - 1889

    Gestation period of opossum in days - 12

    Divide by square route of 4 -  2

    Subtract 100 times 9 - 900

    add greatest number of children from one woman - 69

    So according to the math here goes...

    1926-2001= -75

    -75+1889= 1814

    1814=12= 1826

    1826 / 2 = 913

    913-900= 13

    13 + 69 = 82

    the number that represents both his 100% military kills and his aduulteries - 82! (the same number = to the drawings in he back).

    a bit of a waste of time, but at least I'm content.  : D

    cheers!
