Please show the steps and check :) first one will get 10 points!

1.) -3|4x-9|=24

2.) |8+p|=2p-3

3.) 4|2y-7|+5=9

4.) 2|4-s|= -3s

5.) 5|2r+3|-5=0

6.) -3|0.5c+2|-|-0.5b|

7.) |2y-3|=29

explain them if you can. I REALLY need them for tomarrow.

  1. isolate the absolute values

    then

    |C| = D

    means .. . .

    C = D or C = -D

    (provided D is positive)

    thus

    1.

    |4x - 9| = -8

    no values for x will satisfy this

    2.

    |8 + p| = 2p - 3 .... it should be noted that p> 3/2

    8 + p = 2p - 3 .. . .. . or .... 8 + p = -2p + 3

    11 = p .. . .. . .. . .. . or 3p = -5

    thus p = 11 (since the other value is going to be less than 3/2)

    now, its your turn to try the rest
