a zoo is only partially a museum, and in some case not ven that. the reason for this is that a museum shows items which are a history, which are extinct, not reachable, etc... But in a zoo, it is not mandatory for all the animals there to be these things, where as everything in the museum has to be one or the other thing as mentioned above.

yes a zoo is a museum. It is a collection of animals (doesn't matter that they are alive), and it is also a centre for research and education.

Though in the past a museum was considered to show only historical or rare artefacts, that view has now changed. The term museum may encompass many meaning now and a zoo certainly fits into it.
