  1. Update your anti-spyware and scan the machine in safe mode. This is rogue spyware. If ever a site pops up  and starts reporting scanning your machine, do NOT click any buttons, not even the close x at the top right. These are all programmed as accept buttons for other junk. Use ctrl + alt + del and select task manager, select the window involved and click end task. Several of us reported every instance of these postings, the users are now deleted. They will probably be back so be aware. Always report such incidents to protect others. Posting links to damaging material can be reported as illegal. There is serious jail time for this.

  2. I did the same thing when I was looking at your question. I did not go further in i.e. I did not download anything. However today I found w32.spybot on my computer. That may be a coincidence but I doubt it. Yahoo should put some filter on there site to screen out this link.

  3. If you clicked the link and the page opened, you should be fine.

If you installed the software that's available on that page - then yes, you're infected.

  4. As long as you didn't click on anything there you should be fine.  That "virus" software is a scam and the people posting here should be banned.

  5. If you closed the page and the popups then you are relatively safe.

1001 answers is a major problem and is being spammed across yahoo answers.

    Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Removes Antivirus:

    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant...

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

This will ensure that you are clean as antivirus programs do NOT remove the malicious codec.

EDIT: It would be useful when coming across answers with 1001 link to add the link to the question so that collectively we can report abuse and get rid of these scumbags.
