Question:

Ant Infestation! Help!?

My bedroom was always neat and clean, until some pesky ants began to invade my family's house. My parents say that the ants are all in the wall, coming from outside. The ones coming into my room are winged ants. Some tiny tiny little ants also come in. They always start to invade my room at 4 AM. My parents say they will die in a matter of days. They have invaded my room three nights, the third night only a few came in. I put ant traps and some sweet liquid ant killer stuff that has borax in it in a corner of my room. What else should I do? I cannot take these flying ants anymore!

  1. There is an ant bait that is liquid. You use one drop wher u usually see them. I wipes out the entire colony with like 2 oz of bait. It is clear but cant remember the name. Describe it to lowes or some hardware store. It is cheap also and it works.

  2. the pesky little ants are Argentine Ants; not Mexican ants.  the flying ants are potential kings and queens trying to venture out and start a new nest.

If they are in the wall, not much chance you can get rid of them; not much chance at all anywhere else either.  get some ant dust at the garden center, unless you have kids that can get the stuff on their hands.  in that case, get bug bombs (smoke or mist types; perhaps combination), set about 6 of them off inside the house, and take a day trip somewhere.

enjoy the beach, park, mountains, wherever it is that you go.  chances are you'll meet some of your homeboy ant cousins out there as well

  3. I would suggest calling a terminater! They can probably find the Hill, and then take care of the problem!

  4. Those might be termites, have your parents call an exterminator.  And or sprinkle some ant poison around the foundation around the house.  Find the hole that they are coming through and seal it. Hint where the ants are most in the house is most likely the area outside they are getting in.

  5. Star Wars-

There is an ant bait called Max Force.  This is one of the best products I have ever used.  It is sugar water and pectin, (used for making Jam and Jelly), mixed with a chemical called Fipronil.

You squeeze this directly onto the ant trail and let them chow down.  When they haul their toxic load back to the hive they are dead in about 48 hours.  Just let them eat as much of this junk as they can fit into their little gullets.  It completely dehydrates them, and instantly kills the larvae in the hive, then sterilizes Ol Queenie when she gets fed from her "Loyal" workers.

I picked this product up at Home Depot at the recommendation from a friend who owns a Pest Control Service.

As I learned from my friend, the problem is some of the poisons act too quickly and they do not get the poison back to the nest in a large enough doseage to do any damage.  If the Ants start dying before they get back to the nest the game is up and they will eleminate the poisoned ants from the nest.

Fipronil work a little slower, and it allows the "Load" to get back to the nest.  By doing this is enters their food chain and totally destroys the nest.  I have had mixed results with other products.  However, this has been a total kill every time I have used it.  I only have a need for it about once a year, and here is another rule of thumb to pass on to your family.

You need to act as soon as you see any scouts entering your house.  As soon as you see the scouts you have an average time of 8 hours before they are marching into your home to "liberate" any goodies you have left behind.  Just head outside and locate the trail, even the most unlikely of trails and place the bait directly on that trail.  More than likely, those scouts are from the same nest.

I sent some of this stuff back to my relatives in Oklahoma where they have Fire Ants.  Got news for you, they don't have Fire Ants on their property any more.  Killed every one of those nests dead in 48 hours.

Here is the nice thing, it only works on ants and termites.  So your pets are quite safe,  mainly because the doseage for pets like cats and dogs has to be nearly the whole tube of goo before it would even give them a stomach ache.  But for ants and termites, Oh Baby!  Deadly stuff!

I hope that helps you out!

    Good Luck!
