Question:

Ant bite on toe - no blister formed - red & swollen

I get ant bites frequently as I live in the country. A blister forms, I prick it and apply neosporin, and it heals quickly. This time, it was a very small brown ant. No blister formed, but my toe is now swollen, red, and hurts a lot. I used hyd peroxide, soaked in epsom salts, and put ichthamol on it to draw out the infection (3 days now). So far, nothing I've done has helped. Any suggestions?

  1. Warm compresses would help bring the bite to a head, and then you could carry out your normal treatment routine. Cover your toe with a warm damp washcloth for 10 minutes at a time. The more frequently you do that, the quicker the bite will come to a head. Keep doing the Epsom baths as well, that will aid the process.
