Ant problem in cat food!?!?

Question

I have been feeding my cats indoors for years, but I recently got 2 more kittens, and we have been feeding them kitten food. And EVERYday there is ants ALL OVER the bowl. On the floor, in the bowl, in the food, everywhere. The food is in my room, and I am getting really annoyed by the ants. And I am waisting food, and my cats are hungry, becuse they dont eat when there are ants everywhere.

But how would I get rid of them?! I empty the food bowls, clean the bowl, spray the ants that are on the floor, and make sure I kill them all, and the same thing happens the next day.

I aked my mom, and she just told me to put the food and water up high, so I put it up on my vanity. Will this help?
