Antal Van Der Duim and Goran Tosic battle past into the next round – Copa Topper Challenger 2012 CH
Antal Van Der Duim defeats Pedro Cachin 2-6, 6-4, 7-5
Right-hander, Antal Van Der Duim, journeyed into the final qualifier of the Copa Topper Challenger 2012. He crushed the local rival, Pedro Cachin, in three sets 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 on the hard courts of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The 17-year-old, Cachin, took advantage of his home ground and detained his initial first serve to secure the lead. The Dutch rival was unable to prove his potential and the local rival, being an opportunist bagged away the initial
two games and marked a 2-love lead. Both the players gave each a tough time and they took turns to dissolve each other’s serves. Eventually, the Argentinean reeled off all the games without any opposition and achieved a 6-2 lead.
The Argentinean attained 65 percent initial serve, pocketing away 14 of 17 first and two of nine second delivery points. The Dutch followed the lead as he double faulted four times at the critical moments in the match and attained
a relatively better initial serve precision of 76 percent. On the other hand, he managed to secure just 15 of 29 first but just two of nine second serve points in retaliation. He just capitalized on one of six break points and his competitor attained three
of nine points.
In the second set, the Dutch senior displayed his greater experience, pinching the initial three games and avenged his former loss by stamping a 3-0 lead. A series of serve breaks was witnessed in the set but Cachin levelled the
scores line twice, at 3-all in the sixth and 4-all in the eighth game respectively. Duim beautifully served, securing the last two games and concluded the set with a 6-4 score.
In the decider, the Argentinean professional engraved a remarkable beginning and secured the initial two games but as the match progressed, his performance started to slow down. The scoreboard levelled down after every alternate
game, building pressure on both sides. The 25-year-old Dutch stole the last two games, closing the victory with a 7-5 score line.

Ranked 442 in the ATP World Tour Rankings, Tosic held his first serve, securing the initial two games swiftly and dissolved his rival’s opening serve. The Montenegro senior preserved his serve, struggled hard to sustain his lead
and closing the set with a bread stick.
