Antawn Jamison not worried about Los Angeles Lakers performance wants fans to be patient – NBA News
The Los Angeles Lakers have had a rough start to their highly anticipated 2012-2013 season, losing their first three games before winning the Sunday night fixture against the Detroit Pistons for a 1-3 record after four games.
Ever since the Lakers acquired Dwight Howard and Steve Nash in the offseason, they became the team to beat in the Western Conference and the second favourites to win the NBA title next season behind the Miami Heat. With a superstar cast came the media attention that sometimes makes it difficult to forget a tough loss. And the Lakers seem lost on the floor with the new Princeton offence they are running, and even after the whole of the preseason and four games of the regular season, the team still has not picked up the new offence they are attempting to apply.
One of the players on the Lakers roster who is familiar with the Princeton offence is Antawn Jamison, as he has played under Lakers assistant coach Eddie Jordan with the Washington Wizards. Jordan is the man who has been brought in to implement the Princeton offence which means that Jamison is familiar with the offence as well as the coaching style of his assistant coach. However, he has still been unable to get himself going in his new team, and has somewhat let his team down with his performance. The Lakers have high expectations from Jamison this season as he is one of the few dependable players on the Lakers bench. However, so far he has not made any significant contribution to the team, and has failed to live up to the expectations placed on him.
Over the first three games of the season, Jamison has shot 3 of 8 from the field for 11 points and is 0 of 3 from beyond the arc. That is certainly not the kind of help or support the Lakers are looking for from Jamison this season.
“I know the offense pretty well, but it’s pretty difficult when one or two guys on the court know where to be at,” said Jamison after the Lakers loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Jamison says he is not worried about his performance, or the performance of the team as he believes it will take some time for the team to get accustomed to the new offence.
“I think this stretch, it’s hard to say it’s never benefit us in the long run, because we went through some adversity early just trying to get a feel for what to do at both ends of the floor. As far as myself, I’m not worried, it will come. When it comes hopefully it comes at the right time,” added Jamison
