Ante Pavic and Chris Guccione battle into the second qualifier – Tiburon Challenger 2012 CH
Ante Pavic dismisses Purav Raja 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-2
Ranked 420, Ante Pavic, successfully rallied past the Indian professional, Purav Raja, in the second qualifier round of the First Republic Bank Tiburon Challenger 2012 held at the hard courts of California, United States. He consolidated
his victory after a fierce three setter 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-2 score on Saturday.  
The Croatian native held his serve in the first game and confidently clinched the four break points without facing any hindrance, stamping a 4-love lead. He manifested his flawless tennis to crush his rival retaining his lead throughout
the set and ultimately swept the last three games with a 6-3 score line.
For the second set of the match, the Indian participant began a sloppy start and bestowed a 2-love lead to his challenger. He secured his breakthrough in the sixth game, when the score line evened out to 3-all. However, Pavic never
made geared up and battled against his opponent with a strong resolve to sustain his former win. Sadly, he committed double faults five times and the Indian reeled off the last three games in the tiebreak, stealing the set with a 7-6(3) score.
The 23-year-old, Pavic, swiped through the entire time in the decider without facing any trouble. He produced a slightly better initial serve precision of 70 percent in comparison to Raja who just managed to secure 43 percent.
He secured impressive stats of 13 of 16 first and four of seven second delivery points. The held his serve the entire time and did not let go of a single instance where his rival could take opportunity of the situation. He concluded the match with a 6-2 win. 
Chris Guccione slaughters Lovedeep Singh 6-1, 6-1
Aussie native, Chris Guccione, trounced the local challenger, Lovedeep Singh, and stamped an outstanding 6-1, 6-1 win in nearly 39 minutes on Saturday.
The hard courts of California proved very fortunate for Guccione, as he conserved his serve the entire time in the opener. The 18-year-old American was unable to tolerate the pressure by his rival and broke his serve twice. He
just managed to attain a single game but that did not help. The Aussie bagged away all the games without any break and stole the initial set with a bread stick.
In the second set, the left-hander Aussie sustained his former lead and drew the first blood, engraving a 3-1 lead by the end of the fourth game. Despite of his evident victory, he served with poise and pulled out of the set with
a 6-1 win.
