The Schalke 04 midfielder plied his trade at GelreDome Stadion on loan throughout the 2011/12 season, and has now expressed his preference to play for the Eredivisie outfit over the Bundesliga side.
Schalke 04 midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anthony-Annan-c6201, has been a regular at Vitesse Arnhem since arriving on a season-long loan deal at GelreDome Stadion at the start of the 2011/12 season.
The Ghanaian international managed to impress many in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 with his consistent showings at the centre of the park. The defensive midfielder played an integral role in securing his side a UEFA Europa League berth for next campaign.
With his deal at GelreDome Stadion due to expire on July 1, the 25-year-old has revealed that he would prefer a permanent move to the Eredivisie outfit rather than warming bench at Veltins Arena.
The talented midfielder was lured to Veltins Arena by Die Knappen's then manager, Felix Magath, who was dismissed from his position following his side’s poor showings in the Bundesliga. Huub Stevens is the current manager of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues.
“The coach who signed me to Schalke lost his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 I’ve had regular first team action and I’m glad about that”, Annan was quoted as saying to the media.
The former Hearts of Oak midfielder, who was used in every midfield position by the Vitesse coach John van den Brom, went on to admit that he would happily stay at GelreDome Stadion.
“If Vitesse wants me on permanent basis why not? I would stay and play regularly than go warm the bench elsewhere”, Annan concluded.
The versatile midfielder, who joined the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2011 after making 57 appearances for Rosenborg, started his career at Sekondi Hasaacas in the 2003/04 season. After plying his trade at Sekondi-Takoradi Stadium for two seasons,
the Ghanaian moved to Hearts of Oak.
In the summer of 2007, Norwegian outfit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/IK-Start-c39558 acquired his services, but the midfielder’s career at Sør Arena was brought to a standstill due to his injuries, and he went on to join Rosenborg in the summer of 2008.
