Anthony Davis, number one draft pick, intends to shut down Kobe Bryant – NBA Update
Anthony Davis the player who has been predicted by many to be the number one pick in this year`s draft and join the New Orleans Hornets who won the draft lottery on Wednesday night. Davis, who led the University of Kentucky to an NCAA Championship in his
freshman year and won all the individual honours in college, cannot wait to be playing in the NBA.
On Thursday night, while making an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, Davis made his intentions clear about playing in the NBA. He contemplated regarding the idea of playing against the Los Angeles Lakers, guard, Kobe Bryant.
“He’s a monster. So I just want to go out there and play my hardest. There’s a lot of guys that can’t stop Kobe. So if I stop him I could be one of the guys that say ‘I shut Kobe down’.” – Davis
The Black Mamba has been playing in the NBA for quite some time now and has faced many top defenders trying to put an end to his scoring prowess. However, Bryant has come out on top on most occasions.
The host of the show tried telling the college player of the year and defensive player of the year that Bryant frequently watches the show and would most probably have heard Davis calling him out.
"Be careful what you ask for Anthony," Patrick said "He listens to the show and he has a great memory."
So we can expect Bryant to take on the young star when they face off against each other next season as he most probably would have heard Davis calling him out.
In response to the warning from Patrick, Davis responded back by further adding that he will be waiting for the challenge and cannot wait to play against Kobe. Davis then went on to talk about the disappointment his family has gone through while finding
out that the Hornets had secured the number one pick because they wanted him to play for the Michael Jordan owned Charlotte Bobcats.
“A lot of disappointment inside my family. My mom wanted me to go to Charlotte. I have a lot of good friends in Charlotte. At the same time, it wasn’t my call. A lot of guys are disappointed but they have to move on and make the best out of New Orleans.”
– Davis.
So the next stop in this young man`s career is most probably headlining for a team who only recently had acquire a new owner in form of Tom Benson and will be looking forward to representing the city and its people. The Hornets will also host the NBA All-Star
weekend next season and will hope that Davis being the face of their franchise will headline the glamorous event as well.
