Anthony Davis, the new Kid on the block, making waves in NBA ahead of the Draft
Anthony Davis has the whole basketball world at his feet.
He has the privilege of being at the top of the American collegiate basketball league, known as the NCAA. Anyone who knows basketball in America knows that college basketball players are prized possessions for any NBA franchise
and the one at the top of the ladder must feel like a very special man.
We remember the drama when Derrick Rose was about to be drafted and how sports magazines and newspapers could not get enough of him. Similar was the case with John Wall. And now this year, Anthony Davis is holding the attention
of all NBA franchises in his long fingers.
Anthony Davis guided his college team Kentucky to victory against Kansas Jayhawks in the final of the national college basketball championship just hours ago. He was named as the Final Four’s most outstanding player, to cap off
a year filled with awards and honors.
In the press conference following the final, he was asked by one of the reporters if he has made the decision to enter the NBA. His reply was:
“No, I haven't decided, Coach says we have till April 29 to decide. I'm going to wait, sit down with my coach, sit down with my family, see what the best decision is for me."
If he does decide to enter, Davis might well be the overall no 1 draft pick in the NBA draft, which is an achievement in itself.
The Basketball world is very interested in seeing this young player in the NBA. He is a defensive powerhouse, with dominating rebounding and blocking capabilities. This season in the NCAA, he averaged 14.2 points per game, 10.4
rebounds per game, 1.4 steals per game and a whopping 4.7 blocks per game.
His strength is his ability to move fast and cover both ends of the court, plus his enormous wing span that gives him the capability to effectively block shots. With the NCAA title and the Final Four’s outstanding player trophy
under his belt, he has already achieved all of the milestones at the college level and is ready for the big league.
What impact Anthony Davis will have on the NBA remains to be seen. The first step is if he does contest the NBA draft as he has not made a decision yet. But if he does participate in the draft and makes his way into the NBA, it
will be a great thing for the league.
Basketball gurus, analysts and writers are all waiting for this big man to make his decision. For now, Anthony Davis is at the top of the college basketball ladder and has the attention of the whole basketball world. What he makes
of it, we will know soon.
