Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers focussed on the job at hand – NBA Update
Shortly after being drafted as the 1st and 10th overall pick for the New Orleans Hornets, Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers wasted no time, getting to work immediately to start off their NBA Careers.
The two 19 year olds flew over to New Orleans following the draft night in owner Tom Benson`s private plane and are planning to get to work instantly to get the rebuilding process on its way for the Hornets. Both rookies are expected
to start working out at the Hornets training facilities with the team coaches before Davis leaves for team USA Camp on July 5th while Rivers will be participating in the summer league in Las Vegas.
Ever since Davis and Kentucky Wildcats won the National Championship, he has been working out with a trainer in California. The main aims at the moment prioritized by Davis himself are to get physically stronger and polish his
post skills.
"Guys do this for a living and now I've got the opportunity to do it as well, so I've got to make sure I'm ready," Davis said.
On the other hand, Rivers has spent most of his life watching these NBA players with his father, Doc Rivers, the coach of the Boston Celtics. He has been able to watch players train up close but now being able to do it himself
is a motivation in itself, moving forward.
"A lot of people settle when they're in the NBA. I'm even more motivated than I was in college now that I'm here."  - Rivers
After their arrival in the city of New Orleans, both of them made their first public appearance at their new teammate Jason Smith's annual basketball camp. Davis`s parents and Rivers mother and sister were also present at the occasion.
This is just the beginning for these two young players who have high hopes for their careers. Davis is hopeful to be selected by team USA for the London Olympics as it would be an affluent learning curve for him to play alongside
some of league`s best players.
"Playing with the superstars in this league - it'll be a great opportunity for me," Davis said. "They'll show me the ropes, show me things I've never seen before. ... I just can't wait to learn from them."
For Rivers, getting selected by the Hornets is a huge benefit. He has known Coach Monty Williams ever since he was a kid and playing under him can only mean betterment in his game as he tries to make his own way in the league.
