Anthony Ervin occupies Men’s 50m freestyle gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Anthony Ervin of USA occupied gold medal of the Men’s 50m freestyle on second day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar on Sunday, October 7.
The American swimmer smothered hopes of his opponents in the shortest freestyle discipline and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal.
Ervin faced strong contest from his closest swimmer, George Bovell, but with his continuous efforts in the 50m discipline, he managed to outperform him over the finishing blockade for first position.
Ervin remained just a touch ahead of his following swimmer and surfaced on the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 21.02 seconds for gold medal.
The gold medallist was traced by Bovell, who was 0.04 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 21.06 seconds.
Bovell was chased by Kyle Richardson of Australia, who stayed half body length away from upsetting his former finisher and clocked a time of 21.54 seconds.
The Australian swimmer was chased by Roland Schoeman of South Africa, who suffered a deficit of only 0.01 seconds from his foregoing finisher and posted an effort of 21.55 seconds for fourth position.
Similarly, fifth position of the event was trailed by Ari-Pekka Liukkonen of Finland, who was 0.06 seconds apart and clocked a time of 21.61 seconds.
Liukkonen was trailed by Kenneth To of Australia, who remained 0.05 seconds apart and appeared on the finishing end as sixth fastest spot with an effort of 21.66 seconds.
To was chased by Cameron Simpson of New Zealand, who was 0.17 seconds slower from overpowering his former finisher and ended his swim in seventh place by posting a time of 21.83 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Andrii Govorov of Ukraine, who was unable to surpass any of his opponents. Govorov was 0.04 seconds away from overwhelming his foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 21.87 seconds.
In addition, Ervin was extremely pleased with his title claiming effort and stressed that he would work hard to defend his title at the following stops of World Cup Series.
