Anthony Ervin takes Men’s 100m freestyle title – 2012 FINA Swimming World Cup, Berlin
Anthony Ervin of USA took gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle on initial day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Berlin, Germany on Saturday, October 20.
The American swimmer smothered hopes of his supporters in the four-lap freestyle discipline as he showed his urgency towards the finishing end for the crown.
With his impeccable struggle, Ervin remained only a stroke ahead of his toughest competitor and managed to overpower him over the finishing blockade for gold medal.
He continued his gruelling form throughout the race and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal by producing a fantastic time of 46.71 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Tommaso D’Orsogna of Australia, who stayed only 0.28 seconds slower and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher by clocking a wonderful effort of 46.99 seconds.
Third position of the event was obtained by Darian Townsend of South Africa, who remained only 0.03 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and posted a nice time of 47.02 seconds.
The bronze medallist was trailed by Yannick Agnel of France, who stayed 0.02 seconds apart and settled on the wall as fourth best finisher by clocking a time of 47.04 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Luca Dotto of Italy, who was full body length behind and emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 47.93 seconds.
Dotto was trailed by Steffen Deibler, who was half a body length behind and completed his race in sixth place by hitting the wall with an effort of 48.47 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was secured by Ari-Pekka Liukkonen of Finland, who was 0.13 seconds away from his preceding swimmer and clocked an effort of 48.60 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Emmanuel Vanluchene of Belgium, who was 0.28 seconds away from overwhelming any of his challenger and clocked a time of 48.88 seconds.
In addition, Ervin was delighted with his top finish in the race and articulated that he would try hard to make his fans happy by continuing the same at forthcoming international swimming competitions.
