Anthony Giacoppo succeeded at the 135 kilometre stage 3 of the Tour De Taiwan
Anthony Giacoppo of Team Genesys Wealth Advisers grabbed the third stage of the Tour De Taiwan.
He crossed the finish-line in the fastest time of 3 hours, 11 minutes and 6 seconds to claim the top podium spot on Monday.
Roberto Ferrari of Team Androni Giocattoli and Jonathan Cantwell of Team Saxo Bank achieved the second and the third positions.
He was excited with the victory and thanked his team-mates for their support throughout the race.
He stated, “Coming into the finish, one of my team-mates rode right at the front and another one tried to go away”.
“I don’t really know myself as a rider yet,” Giacoppo admitted. “After stage one in Taipei, people said that all I can win is criteriums, so to win a mountain top finish here - I couldn’t be happier”.
Po-Hung Wu and Lee Rodgers succeeded at the first and the second sprints of the race, while Shinichi Fukushima and Anthony Giacoppo claimed the two climbs of the race.
Team Androni Giocattoli, Team Drapac Cycling and Tabriz Petrochemical Team finished at the first, second and third positions after the race.
Giacoppo is currently holding the seventh overall spot after the stage 3 classifications.
Rhys Pollock of Team Drapac Cycling is leading the overall classifications with Kam Po Wong of Hong Kong Team at the second position.
Dirk Muller of Team Nutrixxion Abus, Taiji Nishitani, Floris Goesinnen and Takashi Miyazawa are holding the third, fourth, fifth and sixth positions after the stage 3 classifications.
Stage 2 winner Wang Kam Po has moved to the top position at the Asian rider classification.
“I believe that European and Australian riders will become stronger than us Asians in the second half of the race,” Wang noted.
Chun Kai Feng of Action Cycling Team is holding the top position at the point’s classification with a total number of 20 points in his back pocket.
Chan Jae Jang and Takashi Miyazawa are at the second and the third positions with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Team Drapac Cycling is leading the team’s classifications, while Japan National Team, Team Androni Giocattoli, Team Saxo Bank and Champion System Pro Cycling Team are holding the next four spots.
