Anthony Ginting storms into Men’s Singles third round at Jakarta Open 2012 – Badminton news
Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting stretched his winning run and stormed into Men’s Singles third round after beating Septiahadi Pratama in second-round contest at Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 16.
The in-form Anthony, who is 8th seed in Men’s Singles main draw of the championship, proved that he is the best in business as he showed no mercy to his team-mate Septiahadi and won the battle easily.
The higher ranked Anthony consumed just 30 minutes in the court to prove his worth and registered a spectacular victory over his lower ranked compatriot in straight sets.
On the other hand, Septiahadi put up good resistance in the opening set but failed to show his brilliance in the second game and bowed down to Anthony without winning any set.
In the first set of this Men’s Singles encounter, both shuttlers found a good start as they played positive badminton and also progressed close at the initial stage.
However, it was the higher ranked Anthony who remained successful in getting a reasonable lead until the mid-game break.
After the 60-second interval, Anthony maintained his positive play and also remained slightly ahead of his opponent by playing safe badminton.
In the meanwhile, Septiahadi tried to earn points by accelerating his speed at net but failed to create gaps as his rival was on a different level.
He was in full control of the game and won it with a reasonable 21-16 margin on the score board.
In the second game, Anthony started his run in a sensational fashion as he played with tremendous precision and took an early lead.
He maintained his positive and better play in the court and managed a wonderful lead until the 60-second break.
After the mid-game interval, Septiahadi became aggressive and started to execute powerful shots from the rear-court area but failed to destroy the defence of his higher ranked opponent.
Anthony did not make any mistake and wrapped up the second game in a phenomenal fashion with a 21-10 margin on the board.
The higher ranked Anthony won this Men’s Singles second-round clash with an amazing difference of 21-16 and 21-10.
