Anthony Hamilton blames cameraman for loss to Mark King in quarter-finals of 2011 Shanghai Masters
The current world number 39, Anthony Hamilton has lost his battle in the quarter-finals of the 2011 Shanghai Masters against the Romford Battler, Mark King, who defeated him by a frame score of 5-2 in a best-of-nine frame match.
The 2011 Bank of Communication Shanghai Masters tournament is being held at the Shanghai Grand Stage in Shanghai, China.
The 40-year-old Hamilton was leading a slow-moving match by 2-1 before King, who currently holds the 29th spot in the world rankings, fired in breaks of 75 and 61 to go in front at 3-2.
The sixth frame was a scrappy affair which went on for 57 minutes but in the end, it was again King who appeared on top to extend his lead further by 4-2.
Hamilton had his chances in the final frame but snooker did not come for him and King finished the match without doing anything outstanding.
The Robin Hood of Snooker, Hamilton, afterwards blamed the cameraman for his defeat. Hamilton claimed he could not concentrate as the cameraman constantly kept on moving his hands in front of him every time he got down to play a shot.
While speaking on his inclusion, Hamilton remarked, “The cameraman was moving on every shot, all the way through the match. It was hard to concentrate and it did my head in. I'm still angry about it now. Whenever I was down on the shot he was in line with
me and his arms were moving around. He had an attitude problem. I complained three times about it but it didn't make any difference. Then they changed one of the cameramen but it was the wrong one.”
“I know it was the same for both players but I let it get to me,” Hamilton added.
Mark King, who has reached his first semi-final since the 2005 Welsh Open, will now face the current world number 3 Mark Selby.
