Anthony Hamilton whitewashes Joe Jogia in China open qualifiers – Round two
Englishman Anthony Hamilton whitewashed his compatriot Joe Jogia 5-0 in the second round of the China Open 2011 qualifiers at the World Snooker Academy, Sheffield. He stunned Jogia after putting up a scintillating show at the baize.
The match started in the morning session of day two’s qualifiers. It was a Hamilton-dominated affair throughout as he got an early 1-0 lead with a couple of decent small breaks of 28, 28. A surprising 92 got him the second frame 93-2 along with a 2-0 lead
in the match. Jogia did not find any chance to make his appearance felt as Hamilton continued his frame-catching streak in the third frame, snatching it 85-7 with beautiful breaks of 34 and 47.
In reply to Hamilton’s 32, Jogia tried to capitalise and bounce back into the game hitting a 49 clearance but to his misfortune, his simple miss gave Hamilton the chance he needed and he made no error and with a little effort, he snatched the fourth frame
65-49 with the addition of a 32 clearance to extend his lead to 4-0.
In the fifth and last frame of the match, the 39-year-old Hamilton did not let Jogia come on the table as he fired an outstanding century break of 102 and captured the frame 102-0. He has now secured a fourth round qualifier spot against Matthew Stevens,
the man who defeated Stephen Hendry 10-8 at the 2003 UK championship final.
The frame scores of Hamilton - Jogia match were 68-18, 93-2, 65-7, 65-49 and 102-0.
