Anthony Johnson: I do not have any complaints against UFC’s contract-rescinding decision - UFC News
Anthony Johnson, Ultimate Fighting Championship’s former light heavyweight brawler, has finally decided to adios the promotion and announced recently that he wholeheartedly accepts UFC’s decision of letting him go as he has shattered their expectations and
did not brawl well in recent engagements.
Johnson has fought most of his brawls in UFC and started his career emphatically collecting knockout and fight of the night awards. The controversy heightened and finally demolished UFC President Dana White’s patience level when in the last three bouts against
Dan Hardy, Charlie Brenneman, and Vitor Belfort, Anthony was unable to cut his weight within the designated limit.
In all these bouts Dana, just because of his impressive brawling abilities, allowed Anthony to fight but consistently pressurised him to reduce his weight. As a result of undergoing strenuous weight reduction procedures, Anthony felt the drawback during
his bout with Vitor Belfort.
After the bout Anthony, also known as the ‘Rumble’, said that he felt his legs getting weakened. It must be kept in mind that Johnson lost that bout via submission. This was the last aspect that sealed Johnson’s fate and provoked UFC to rescind his contract.
Anthony in a recent short interview commented, “Medical conditions and stuff like that you know. My legs stopped working. Some things just weren’t clicking like they were supposed to click. You obviously saw the result so by me missing weight and stuff,
but I'm not living off that. It’s still fresh in my mind. That time period in my life is a big letdown because I let myself down more than I let anyone else down.”
The 28-year brawler who has won 10 of his total 14 skirmishes is now rumoured to have become a part of Titan Fighting Championship, another mixed martial art promotion, where Anthony will make his debut on May 25, 2012 in the middleweight division.
Anthony during the interview said that he is not a guy who takes things at heart. Johnson added that he has disappointed many people but his including himself adding that business is business and UFC is taking a right step.
Anthony further explained that if the apex American mixed martial art platform does not need him its natural that they will let him go. Johnson said that he does not want to sit and cry on whining at what happened in the past and wants to move on since a
whole new career is still waiting ahead of him.
At the moment no announcement has been made by Titan’s management regarding Anthony’s future opponent.
