Anthony Johnson: My muscle mass and body frame are appropriate for 205-pound division – UFC News
Anthony Johnson has finally decided to become a part of the 205-pound division. In a recent interview, he came up saying he should have taken this step long time ago, adding that his muscle mass and body frame is favourable for the light heavyweight division
only.
Anthony, 28, faced a severe tough time in UFC so much so that his contract was eventually rescinded and he was released from the promotion. The Florida brawler’s weight issue did not leave him alone and even after becoming a part of the Titan Fighting championship,
in his debut bout, again missed the weight.
It is this reason why in a recent press conference, Anthony has finally decided to enter the division where he originally belongs that is the 205-pound light heavyweight. Anthony has long been criticised for being a part of divisions that are way lower than
his weight.
Anthony always had to undergo substantial hard work just to reduce his body mass and weight. As a result of all those dietary exercises, Johnson started to lose bouts since his body mass and physique did not allow him to continue in fact dehydrated or fatigued
him early in almost every bout.
During the media interaction, while officially making the announcement, Anthony stated, “It is a new start. It's now or never, and I still have a lot of improving to do, especially being at 205 pounds. There are good strikers, good ground guys. There are
guys like Lyoto Machida at 205 pounds. He's a threat to anybody. We'll see. I'm just excited about it, and we'll see what I can do.”
With this new development Anthony will surely start his career anew. Also known as The ‘Rumble’, Anthony admitted that he has made big mistakes in the past, adding that he has learned from them and has now taken the most appropriate decision regarding his
career.
When asked as to why he has decided it to do so, Anthony commented, “I just didn't want the stress anymore. Dropping all that weight like I was, it was a lot of stress behind me – too much thinking and not enough actually putting time into stuff. I don't
want to go through that anymore.”
Johnson currently boasts 11 wins in a total of 15 mixed martial art bouts. The young lad is looking forward to make an impressive comeback and the current decision will definitely aid him in building up an intimidating and successful resume.
