Anthony Kim withdraws from the Wells Fargo Championship – Golf News
The PGA Tour once again witnessed Anthony Kim pull out from an event for the third consecutive time, as he announced his withdrawal from the Wells Fargo Championship on Friday, May 4, 2012.
While playing the second round of the tournament, he felt pain in his right wrist and elbow that forced him to pull out of the event.
In the first week of April, he registered a first round score of seven-over par 79 in the opening round of the Shell Houston Open, prior to his announcement of withdrawal from the tournament.
The similar situation happened during the first round of the Valero Texas Open two weeks ago when he opted out of the event when his shot hit the rock while he was trying to get out of the bushes.
He later told that he started feeling pain in both the arms that forced him to stop his campaign in the tournament.
While entering the Wells Fargo Championship, he told that he took complete rest and did not hit a single ball during the 10-day off period that he had, prior to the start of the tournament.
"I've tried to play through the injuries, but I know from experience that it will only make matters worse," Kim said in a statement. "I'm going to get it looked at and do what I need to do to get back to full health".
During the 2012 PGA Tour season, he has participated in 9 events so far and succeeded in making the cut only twice.
He was also disqualified from the Northern Trust Open after he signed a wrong scorecard on the par-four seventh hole during the second round.
Therefore, the whole season has proved to be a nightmare for him and he is now struggling to retain his card for the 2013 PGA Tour season.
He is currently ranked 210 on the money list and he needs to be listed among the top 125 to successfully retain the card.
The other way around is to keep away from the course due to the injuries that will allow him to get a major medical exemption on the tour for next year.
