Anthony McGill looking forward to 2011-12 snooker season as PTC Event 1 starts at World Snooker Academy
Scotland’s Anthony McGill has set his eyes on the 2011-12 snooker season and hopes to make it a memorable year. The Scottish did not enjoy a convincing last season, especially in the Players Tour Championships (PTC). On the other hand, the first event of
the 2011-12 PTCs started at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield, with the matches of first round qualifiers.
World number 59, McGill finished the last season with 62 percent match winning rate and 57.3 percent frame winning rate. He could not better his record at the PTCs as he crashed out early in most of them, but he has pulled up his socks and hopes for a better
performance this season.
In his interview to a local website, the 20-year-old McGill admitted that he had a mixed last season with some good and bad performances. He added that he did not finish the last season on a high as he lost a few matches in a row. However, he is hoping to
play better this season and improve his ranking.
While speaking to the website, McGill said, “Well I’d like to get a few good results under my belt right away to get some confidence back as I was mentioning. I finished the season 59, so obviously looking forwards and not backwards, I would like by the
end of the season to be inside the top 48. I would like to win at least a match in the UK and World Championships this time round too!”
He added about the PTCs, “I entered them all last time round! I love them, they only last three days, so you’re not away for long, plenty of matches against some of the best players in the world and money and ranking points to be won.”
On the other hand, the first event of Players Tour Championships (PTC) has started on Saturday, June 18 at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. McGill will play his first match of the event on Monday, June 20 in the third round.
