Anthony Mundine to fight Bronco McKart on July 14 – Boxing News
Anthony Mundine, former two time world champion, will go head to head with Bronco McKart on July 14 at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Bronco, also known as ‘Superman’, stands with 54 wins, 9 losses and 1 tie and is the former WBO and IBA Light
Middleweight Champion. Mundine stands with 43 wins, 4 losses and 0 ties to date. The event is named ‘When Worlds Collide’ and it will be televised on Wealth TV, being presented by Millennium Events.
This is the third big event of the year that is falling on July 14. First, there was Chisora vs. Haye, then Khan vs. Garcia and now Mundine vs. McKart on the same day. It should be noted here that even though this is a big event, Mundine is not quite happy
with it. Mundine, also known as ‘The Man’, believes it is his time to take on bigger fighters and not ‘Chihuahuas’. Last month, Mundine came out heavy and made comments that must have hurt others. He not only called his recent opponents, especially McKart,
Chihuahuas, in fact he also made it a point to call the bigger ones ‘dogs’. His words were, “It's not the fight that I wanted or that I earned as far as a big fight but that was the offer that came and there was nothing else happening so I had to take it.
I had to jump at the opportunity. I can't knock back a main event. I've got to start somewhere ... this is a launching pad to bigger and better things. They can feed me all the chihuahuas they want - I want the big dogs because I'm going to stomp on them.
I'm going for Mayweather, man - that's what I want. He's the best - I want him... and I'm just going to keep beating whoever they put in front of me 'til I get him.”
It is pretty obvious that like many others, even Mundine wants to beat Mayweather, or at least face him. However, his chances of going head to head with Mayweather are nowhere to be seen or felt right now.
