Anthony Pettis will face Joe Lauzon at UFC 144 in Japan – UFC News
American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters Anthony Pettis and Joe Lauzon would meet each other inside the octagon fight ring when the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosts UFC 144 in 2012.
The UFC management officially confirmed the reports. Both fighters would be entering into the UFC fight ring for their lightweight bout.  UFC 144 is also named as UFC Japan for it is being held in Saitama Super Arena in Saitama,
Japan. The event is scheduled to take place on February 26, 2012.
Pettis, the 24-year old fighter had a great start in his MMA professional career when he was undefeated in the first nine matches in his MMA career. He had his first bout against Tom Erspamer in January 2007 and kept his winning
run until World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) 41 event, which was held in June 2009. He won the match against Mike Campbell. He faced his first defeat at WEC 45 event in December 2009 by the hands of Bart Palaszewski.
He again enjoyed another four match straight win from March 2010 to December 2010. The recent fight he lost was against Clay Guida at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 Finale in June 2011. At UFC 136, he won his fight against Jeremy
Stephens in October 2011. For Pettis, the fight at UFC 144 would be an opportunity for him to get his momentum back in his career and restart his winning streaks.
On the other hand, Lauzon was also undefeated when he started his career. He had his first bout in February 2004 against David Gilrein at Mass Destruction 15 event held in Boston, Massachusetts. He won eight straight wins from
the time he made his debut. His first loss came in April 2005 at the Absolute Fighting Championships 12.
In 2011, Lauzon has won both of his bouts. He won his fight against Curt Warburton at UFC Live event in June 2011 and later secured a win over Melvin Guillard at UFC 136 in October 2011. Both fighters would certainly want to win
their bout at UFC 144. This would be a chance for both the fighters to showcase their skills in Japan, a land where martial arts was born and where MMA and UFC fans are always eager to watch great fights.
