Anthony Randolph receiving interest from the Atlanta Hawks – NBA News
Anthony Randolph is one free agent forward who is yet to be picked up by any team in free agency this year.
A great talent as an athlete, Randolph played for the Minnesota Timberwolves this past season and proved his ability and talent as a role player. He averaged 15.2 minutes this past season and started only 5 games, averaging 7.4
points and 3.6 rebounds. The Wolves did not put forward an offer for him this offseason, making him a free agent. As the end of moratorium period draws closers, it has been learnt that the Atlanta Hawks are showing interest in him.
“The Hawks met with free agent forward Anthony Randolph over the weekend. Ferry said the Hawks also are scheduled to meet with free agent forward Rashard Lewis, who didn’t commit to the Heat after meeting with the team in Miami
on Sunday,” reported the Atlanta Journal – Constitution.
The addition of Randolph to the Hawks line up would see him make a front court trio with Josh Smith and Al Horford, which could be a great combination. The Hawks are looking for a strong forward after trading away Joe Johnson to
the Brooklyn Nets. And Randolph can become that person for the Hawks if he is allowed to play extended minutes.
Atlanta Hawks are looking to rebuild their team after failing to reach the second round of the NBA playoffs this season. Josh Smith is still at the core of the team but the departure of Joe Johnson has left a hole in the lineup
that the Hawks are now trying to fill. Last season, Randolph played only 44 games for Wolves, where he came from the New York Knicks in the 2010-2011 season.
Rashard Lewis is the other forward the Hawks are thinking of recruiting. He averaged 7.8 points and 3.9 rebounds last season while playing 26 minutes a game on average. Lewis is a veteran with 14 years of experience in the NBA.
He can bring some experience and stability to the Hawks team but Randolph has athleticism and youth to his advantage. It all comes down to how the Hawks are thinking of rebuilding their roster and who suits them in their plans.
