Anthony Tolliver finally gives in to his demands and is ready to accept a league minimum to play for Atlanta Hawks
Anthony Tolliver had remained a free agent during the summer mainly because of the fact that he was unwilling to play for a veteran’s minimum, which was exactly what teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves had to offer.
However, as soon as the opportunity to return to the Wolves was closed due to the signing of Lou Amundson, Tolliver gave in to his demands. The 27 year old has shown interest in joining the Atlanta Hawks nearly two weeks back and
according to his latest tweet, Georgia will be Tolliver’s home for the next season as he gears up for his next NBA stop.
“I will be signing with the Atlanta Hawks for the upcoming season…thanks to all the Twolves for 2 great yrs! #thedecision #finally lol” – Tolliver tweeted.
The semantics of the new deal have been drawn in such a manner that Tolliver will be Atlanta for the upcoming season and will be playing for a league minimum.
He might have had to give up on his demands monetarily in order to land on an NBA team. But getting to play on a potentially rising team like the Hawks is going to be very beneficial of his career.
Furthermore, Tolliver has the chance to earn respectable playing time throughout the season. Sure, he will have to work his way to earning those minutes alongside the likes of Ivan Johnson, Zaza Pachulia, Johan Petro and Josh Smith,
all of who will be fighting to play behind Al Horford.
One of the most beneficial factors in getting Tolliver those minutes will be his ability to spread the floor and getting up and down the floor has not been a problem with him.
On the other hand, the Hawks also have a potential big man by taking the gamble on Tolliver. Sure, he might not have averaged double-double figures as he held an average of 4.4 points last season but he did it by shooting the ball
39% from the field and taking a chance on a relatively cheaper rate is surely worth gambling for.
Prior to agreeing with the Hawks, Tolliver spent the past few seasons with the Timberwolves while his other NBA stops include, Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers and the San Antonio Spurs.
