Five teams have reportedly shown interest in Anthony Tolliver with Minnesota Timberwolves still lurking among the possibilities.....
Anthony Tolliver spent the past two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves and became a free agent over the summer.
While the Wolves GM, David Kahn is still trying to ship one of his guards in order to bring in Tolliver as a suitable backup to Kevin Love at the power forward position, the problem at the moment lies with both parties agreeing monetarily. Offering a veteran’s minimum to him is not an option for Wolves anymore.
As the Wolves try to make something happen, Tolliver and his agent have been considering other options as well. Previously there had been speculation of a Greek team being interested in the 27 year old. And now according to Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida, five teams are in the mix to sign Tolliver for the coming season.
“The 5 teams in the mix for free-agent forward Anthony Tolliver are Minnesota, Indiana, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington “ – Tomasson on his Twitter account.
But the bigger question remains are these teams really interested in Tolliver or are these just tactic applied by his agent to make the Wolves a more lucrative offer. Tolliver is also believed to be interested in heading to Atlanta as he thinks the Hawks can make use of his versatility to not only play deep in the post but also spread the floor and shoot from long range.
However, no prominent interest has been made from the Atlanta management who already have Josh Smith present in their ranks.
So where will Tolliver be playing next season? The best option for him would be to return back with the Wolves. As Minnesota is intent on bringing him back.
The only problem on the possible return remains the financial aspect of the game as Wolves cannot offer more than a veteran’s minimum at the moment.
However, they would have to hurry on their plans to trade away a guard in order to create enough cap space and offer a more substantial deal to Tolliver who is willing to accept more money from any other team who comes calling for his name.
