Question:

Anthrax suspect Bruce E Ivins committed suicide -

Was it the action of a guilty man - or is it a very useful little death which prevents all the facts emerging and puts Mr Ivins firmly in the frame without having to resort to a trial? Particularly since the previous suspect is now suing for damages. Are we going to see the evidence?

  1. Innocent until proven guilty.  Dead men are not prosecuted.  He's innocent.  Case closed.

  2. I does sound awfully convenient.  Why would he do it?  Why would the incidents coincide roughly with the 9/11 attack?

Everything that the Bush administration does smells.  This smells like a convenient way to tie up the loose ends of another Bush administration failure.

  3. No not really.  Just more and more stuff to make him look bad after he is deceased.  Now they have to look for another suspect and hopefully it is the right person.

  4. I gave this answer earlier, for the conspiracy buffs now sprouting up:

Bruce Ivins was a government employee, he wouldn't have access to the funds to embezzle. His motivation was fame, not money, in developing a new vaccine, a quick google shows his name to 23 research papers.

Weird, but I don't think he believed that Fort Detrick personnel would be suspected right away. While it's possible to brew anthrax in your kitchen, producing easily aerosolized anthrax would be far beyond the capability of terrorist and only in the capabilities of a few governments. As brilliant as Ivins was, people like him overlook such a banal detail that he had a unique biohazardous material he exposed the public to.

Surprised it took so long to get the anthrax mailer, anyone with microbiology knowledge would know Fort Detrick was the only place in the USA to have weaponized anthrax.

Looking further at reports about Ivins, he should had been the primary suspect in 2002 after he wasn't reporting the decontamination work he had done. The FBI will not look good when the full report comes out, they were blinded by the fact he was assisting them in the investigation to regard him as a suspect, the consequence being a $5.8 million payout to Hatfill that didn't need to happen.

As for the conspiracy theories floating around, that's all a crock. Bear in mind that Ivins was deranged, which takes all of the "rational" logic of conspiracy theories out of the equation.

    --------------------------------------...

Conclusion: The FBI had a flawed investigation, but the right man,

  5. The truth will probably never be known but it is strange that he had not been arrested and charged much earlier. If considered guilty by the FBI, he would have constituted an ongoing threat to public safety.

Most probably this was another convenient suicide like the UK case of Dr Kelly.

On reflection, the Anthrax was sent to Patrick Leahy and Tom Daschle, the two most prominent opponents of the Patriot Act.

This strongly suggests action by security services to eliminate or at least frighten these two Democrats. My vote is for Bruce Ivins being the fall guy.

  6. They have their scape goat. The government is nothing more than a big bully. I think he was innocent and the government will try to smear him even in death just to say they got their man. The evidence will be smear and innuendo

  7. like titanic, twin towers, princess diana, and did my x really cook my dinner, the Truth will never be known
