  1. it is the temperature which my comrades say it must be. this varies from day to day, and with the circumstances under which the question is posed, as the answer must always serve the end of equalization of income, and serve to thus further the cause of marxism.

  2. Wraith how can anyone adequately explain with facts something that just plain does not exist.

  3. This is essentially the same question that was asked 4 days ago http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Of course there is no ideal temperature for Earth.  However, humans have developed extensive infrastructure and agricultural production geared to a very narrow temperature range.  If the global mean temperature were to change by say 5 degrees C,  then it would cost trillions of dollars to change our infrastructure to accommodate it.  Since you want further resources, here is a link to a document on how it would affect California  http://meteora.ucsd.edu/cap/pdffiles/CA_...

.  Things like the California Water Project would have to be extensively overhauled.  Unfortunately documents like this don't exist for all areas of the world, although the IPCC reports do address some of these issues.

For the world's flora and fauna the changes can't be addressed by throwing money at the problem. Some can adjust by moving poleward or up in elevation, but that is not always an option if the change occurs to rapidly--trees migrate relatively slowly, and if the rest of the biome relies on the forest it's in trouble too

So it's not that there's an ideal temperature, it's just that if it changes signficantly it can cause major problems.

EDIT: I reference that document because it was written by experts, people that I work with.  It's not that California is so much more important than the rest of the world, it's just that it is one place that has had the foresight to prepare a document like this. You should take what you read there and realize that virtually all of the Mediterranean climates will be facing the same problems.

More nuclear power would be fine, although we already have 3 in my county, that includes one sitting dead because it's old and decommissioned. However nuclear power is not cheap compared to other types of power and it certainly doesn't solve any water problems, which are enormous and just getting bigger as the climate changes.

  4. I always like this question. It can't be done without hemispheric and ecological segregation. Which in itself, would tear apart the concept of Global Warming.

ed:This is a old link to a old study. One I don't think has ever been resolved. I've ask before but received no pertinent responses...just side tracks and some debating between GW advocates.

  5. There is no single ideal temperature for the whole earth, because there are many different climate zones on earth.

There IS, however, an ideal climate condition for earth as a whole. That's a climate in which the net of all anthropogenic forcings is zero. Currently, the net of all anthropogenic forcings is about +1.6 Watts per square meter.

If we get that down to zero, we're fine.
