  1. Do you mean what the relevance of anthropology is to architecture?

It would fall under the anthropological analysis of social space or the built environment.  People in this study examine why people construct buildings in certain ways, and in turn, how these buildings affect the lives of the people who live in them.

Classic studies include Mauss and Beuchat's study of the Inuit.  The study showed how their houses varied during the year depending on their changing seasonal lifestyle, and especially the annual round of rituals.  Another key study C.E. Cunningham's analysis of the Antoni house (a southeast Asian people).  Cunningham showed how the house reflected the Antoni's world view, with the right and left halves associated with masculinity and femininity, the roofspace the heavens.

  2. Anthropology by definition is simply the study of humanity so your question is how does the study of humanity affect the study of things made by humans. Obviously, there are many answers to your question depending on which groups of humans you are studying.

  3. Well, in Mesopotamia for one, the oldest excavation sites revealed that grain storage buildings which doubled as religious temples, were the first buildings constructed by the earliest famers, dating from 6,000 years ago!
