Hello, this year one of my courses is anthropology and I have no idea at all what it is. So can you please tell me what it is about and how I can succeed it in and what kind of things we do?

Thanks!

  1. Anthropology is the study of humanity. Branches are linguistics, bio/physical and primatology, archeology, and socio-cultural.  An introductory course is usually socio-cultural but will briefly explain the other branches and how they relate.  It is not necessary for Medicine but is a great elective to meet a core requirement since you will be working with humans. Topics usually include subsistence patterns, religions, language patterns, marriage and family patterns, organization patterns, etc.  Bio/physical might also be up your alley since it's more or less anatomy of humans and paleo primates.

  2. anthropology is the study of man....ancient, current, human bones, etc. Archeology is a Branch of Anthro...it is very cool stuff!

  3. No, anthropology is completely unrelated to medicine.
