what is the social organization where females and offspring have individual homeranges, and then an alpha male will have a homerange overlapping that of several females?

  1. I believe the answer you are seeking is "One Male" social groups. This is when generally all the females and the young stick together (although females will join other female groups) and the male comes in from outside (usually a bachelor group, or as a solitary individual) to mate, and then basically leaves. When the males get old enough, they go out on their own to find a female territory of their own, or to join a bachelor group.
