  1. Although anthropology comes in handy for all sorts of fields, jobs focusing on anthropology are few and competitive.  Having just graduated with an anthro degree I understand where you're coming from.  I'm considering cultural resource management, which is not field work in the sense of a true blue archaeology research project or an ethnographic study of some far away people, but still is in a sense going out to the local area and doing field work.

Museum work is a possibility, as an archivist.  It really depends on the type of anthropology you are into, forensics is all the rage these days but that's not really my specialty.

  2. Basically, Anthropology is the study of people & their culture.

You can apply it to any walk of life.

I became a social worker & have a very different slant to my work then most others.

You can become a linguist, a teacher, an artist, mental health worker, law enforcement etc.

It's a state of mind that will follow you into whatever field you choose.  Good luck.

  3. All types of jobs. Having a degree in Anthropology means that you understand about the world and it's peoples.

Most jobs need this, from business (which is a global career), journalism, social work, community work, police, even day care assistant.

The world is your oyster with that degree.

  4. i graduated w/ anthro last dec and i work at a finance company right now!!

  5. The U.S. Forest Service REALLY likes archeology degrees.

  6. Applied anthropology.
